Alert! The programme for this year’s Open Book Festival has been released. Starting on Saturday 7 September and running until Wednesday 11 September, the festival will be held at venues in Cape Town’s “Fringe” district, with The Fugard Theatre as the central hub.
International authors to look out for this year include Ian Rankin, Patrick de Witt and Kamila Shamsie. They’ll be joined by the standard bevy of local writers, plus two names who have been making waves on the African letters front: Teju Cole and the Man Booker-longlisted NoViolet Bulawayo.
We’ve gone through the extensive programme and picked out several highlights for each day. These are just a taste of all the exciting goings on; be sure to visit the full programme to pick out your favourites and keep an eye on it as there are bound to be some tweaks made.
- Don’t forget that, in addition to the main programme, there are also poetry, comics and youth programmes to peruse
