Alert! Gourmand International have announced the finalists for the 2015 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, naming the winners in the South African category. These books will go on to compete against books from all over the world for the coveted Best in the World title, to be announced on the 9th of June in China’s wine capital, Yantai.
The Gourmand judges have selected Durban Curry: So much of flavour by Erica Platter and Devi Sankaree Govender (Paw Paw Press) as their book of the year, also naming it the winner in the Heritage and Indian Cuisine categories, writing in their report: “It is outstanding, vibrant with passion and culture.”
Bookstorm stands out as the most decorated publisher in this round, having published four of the 16 celebrated titles. Struik Lifestyle is responsible for three winning titles, while Penguin published the two Justin Bonello books set to compete in the international arena.
The Times Media publication Sunday Times Food Weekly Cookbook 2 has also been recognised by Gourmand International, named winner in the Photography category.
