Alert! Deadline has revealed that Endemol Studios‘ scripted division Additional Dialogue has picked up the rights to develop Lauren Beukes supernatural thriller Broken Monsters as a drama series.

Broken Monsters is Additional Dialogue’s first book acquisition.

Beukes’ literary agent Oliver Munson of AM Heath congratulated the author on Facebook, saying: “Lovely to FINALLY be able to announce this. Nice one Lauren!”

Scott Aversano and Tom Gormican have been named as executive producers. Aversano was producer on a number of big-budget productions, such as The Last Airbender, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Manchurian Candidate and Team America: World Police.

Gormican and Aversano recently worked together, as producer and writer respectively, on the 2014 movie That Awkward Moment, featuring Zac Efron.

From Deadline:

“Beukes’ novel captures our culture’s fascination with horror,” Aversano said. “Her clever choice to explore this within the constructs of a supernatural novel – especially one which presents its own horribleness so elegantly – is a delightful paradox.”
