Yesterday UK publishers Hodder and Stoughton shared the blurb that American horror master Stephen King has given to The Three by Sarah Lotz. Calling it “hard to put down and vastly entertaining,” King compares her writing to a mixture of Michael Crichton, author of Jurassic Park, and Shirley Jackson, author of “The Lottery“.
The Three is the first of two books that were part of a six-figure book deal with Hodder & Stoughton, who shared a trailer for the book earlier this year. Last year Company Pictures acquired the TV rights to The Three and its sequel, Day Four.
This is the second time that King has recommended a local book, with Lauren Beukes getting a positive review from him for The Shining Girls last year.

I suppose this means @SarahLotz1 won't need my cover blurb of "THIS BOOK IS FUCKING DELICIOUSTASTIC" any more.

Paige Nick, who writes the Girl Walk In series with Lotz and Helen Moffett as Helena S Paige, joked with Richard de Nooy, author of The Big Stick, and Rachel Zadok, author of Sister-Sister, about a possible King/Lotz collaboration and including a King tribute in the next choose-your-own-erotic-destiny book:
@SarahLotz1 – @RicharddeNooy & I want to know if you'll be collaborating with Mr King next? Your pen name could be S King. Very convenient.
— paige (@paigen) March 19, 2014
@RicharddeNooy @SarahLotz1 Never! She likes to fly under the radar. Maybe SL King? Steveh King? Steven S. King?
— paige (@paigen) March 19, 2014
@paigen @RicharddeNooy A girl walks into a pet sematary?
— Sarah Lotz (@SarahLotz1) March 19, 2014
@SarahLotz1 @RicharddeNooy One of the characters in our next @GirlWalksIn book is so going to be named Carrie!
— paige (@paigen) March 19, 2014
@paigen @SarahLotz1 @RicharddeNooy @GirlWalksIn And she's going to be a real firecracker in bed, neh.
